IETF 125: IRTF Open
Two Internet Research Task Force (IRTF) Open sessions during IETF 125 will include Applied Networking Research Prize (ANRP) presentations and discussing research challenges for the IRTF at the intersection of AI systems and internetworking.
Session 1
The goal of this Internet Research Task Force (IRTF) Open session during IETF 125 at 0100 UTC on 17 March 2026, is to identify and discuss research challenges for the IRTF at the intersection of AI systems and internetworking. The session is intended as a forum to help crystallize the most important open problems and possible research directions for the IRTF. This framing builds on the earlier 1st Workshop on Inter-networking Challenges for AI (INET4AI 2025), co-located with CoNEXT 2025 that discussed networking challenges arising from large-scale distributed generative AI workloads.
Session 2
This IRTF Open session during IETF 125 at 0600 UTC on 19 March 2026 will include presentations by Applied Networking Research Prize (ANRP) winners. The ANRP is awarded to recognise the best recent results in applied networking, interesting new research ideas of potential relevance to the Internet standards community, and upcoming people that are likely to have an impact on Internet standards and technologies, with a particular focus on cases where these people or ideas would not otherwise get much exposure or be able to participate in the discussion.
